Certified Peer Support (Full-Time)

Haven House is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. Our team provides the highest caliber of treatment to the residents in Gracedale that are struggling with adjustment, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and other mental health illnesses. This position is challenging yet rewarding as our staff have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of these residents.

Our ideal candidate is dedicated, responsible, reliable, and excited about working with older adults that struggle with mental health. We are looking for someone who is flexible and willing to adjust to the ever-changing nature of older adult treatment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer support services by drawing on personal lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery
  • Build trusting, strength-based relationships with individuals to promote self-advocacy and independence
  • Assist clients in developing and achieving personal wellness and recovery goals
  • Connect individuals with community resources, support groups, and social services
  • Document client interactions and progress in accordance with program guidelines
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to support care plans
  • Model recovery principles and coping strategies in daily interactions

Requirements for Position:

  • Current Pennsylvania Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certification required
  • Personal lived experience with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders
  • Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess good personal and professional boundaries appropriate for a treatment setting
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building authentic peer relationships/li>
  • Familiarity with community resources and social services in the Allentown/Lehigh Valley area preferred
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes
  • Reliable, empathetic, and committed to trauma-informed, person-centered care

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mental Health/Substance Abuse counseling: 1 year
  • Previous crisis management experience
  • Previous experience working with older adults

7.5-hour shift
